CLSU Amplifies R4D Initiatives Through RIDe Festival 2023

The Central Luzon State University (CLSU) stages the second edition of the Research Innovation and Development (RIDe) Festival 2023 with the theme “R4D: Key to a Sustainable Society” from October 9-11, 2023.

The 3-day festival features a wide range of events that showcases research for development (R4D) initiatives, technologies, and products developed by the different R&D centers, and colleges.

To officially start the RIDe Festival 2023, the opening program was held at the #CLSU Auditorium graced by Hon. Amenah “Mina” F. Pangandaman, Secretary of the Department of Budget and Management (DBM), the first muslim DBM secretary and the only female member of the country’s economic team.

During her speech, Sec. Pangandaman emphasized the alignment between the CLSU RIDe Festival and the advocacy of the DBM that she has been promoting - innovation and sustainability. She also introduced the Philippine Development Plan 2023 to 2028, which highlights the government's inclusive innovation approach called Filipinnovation.

“Seeing the promising research and technologies that you, our dear students, and faculty have devised makes me confident that we can further elevate Filipinnovation into a whole-of-nation approach,” Secretary Pangandaman added.

Meanwhile, as a token of appreciation, Dr. Edgar A. Orden, CLSU President handed an authentic bag from the Philippine Carabao Center at CLSU called Cara Cuero made or pure Carabao Leather Hide customized by their partner manufacturer in Bulacan.

After the opening program, CLSUans flocked at the ribbon cutting and opening of exhibits held at the Research and Extension grounds featuring products and machineries developed by the specialized R&D Centers, Colleges, and other partner agencies within the Science Community.

On the other hand, the plenary session with Mr. Raphael Henri B. Mundo representative of Atty. Ignacio S. Santillana, Deputy Administrator from the Sugar Regulatory Administration kicked-off the presentation of completed and on-going research papers as well as the poster presentation.

The RIDe Festival is a manifestation of the university's commitment to addressing the pressing needs of the country and improving the society through research for development.
