The Department of Science and Technology Regional Office III (DOST-III) and Central Luzon State University (CLSU) officially signed the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the partnership on the Socio-Economic Research and Data Analytics Center's (SERDAC) mapping and analysis of the poultry industry's supply and value chain in Central Luzon on March 13, 2024, at 1:30 p.m. at the CLSU-Office of the President's Conference Room.
The agreement's principal signatories are Dr. Julius Ceasar V. Sicat, DOST-III Regional Director, and Dr. Evaristo A. Abella, CLSU President. The Vice President for Research and Extension, Dr. Edgar A. Orden is in attendance, together with DOST- Nueva Ecija Provincial Director Leidi Mel B. Sicat, DOST-Region 3 SETUP Project Staff, and SERDAC Faculty and Staff.
The Value Chain Mapping and Analysis is a subproject under the DOST Region 3 initiative titled "Strengthening the Competitiveness of the Priority Industries in Region III through the Adoption of Integration 4.0 Technologies."
โ€‹The DOST's Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program (SETUP) aims to provide industry-level interventions to selected Central Luzon flagship industries, addressing food security and improving production, manufacturing, and service processes using appropriate Industry 4.0 technologies. The DOST III has identified CLSU, through the (SERDAC), as the qualified partner for their technical qualifications, commitment, and sense of responsibility required to assist with and implement the project.

By the end of Year 1, the project aims to achieve several milestones, including (1) enhancing SETUP support and implementing Industry 4.0 technologies in the poultry and furniture industries, (2) identifying suitable digital transformation initiatives for improved production, (3) promoting sustainable growth through technological advancements, (4) fostering collaboration between agencies, recruiting three technical staff for project implementation, (5) enhancing the skills of SETUP4.0 personnel, and (6) initiating the development of an intelligent IoT-based system tailored to the supply and value chains of the poultry and furniture industries.
